Over the past 10 years, the options for pregnant and birthing families in the Upper Valley have dwindled. One by one, the majority of our small community hospital birth centers in the Upper Valley of New Hampshire and Vermont have closed – including Alice Peck Day Memorial Hospital in Lebanon, Valley Regional Hospital in Claremont, New London Hospital and Cottage Hospital in Woodsville, and soon, Springfield Hospital in Springfield.
What choices remain for these families? Delivering their baby at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon (NH), Gifford Medical Center in Randolph (VT), a much longer trip to a hospital or birth center beyond the Upper Valley, or birthing at home with a midwife. For many families, these few choices do not align with their needs and preferences.
Donate today and become part of the Gentle Landing Birth team, giving families a choice in how and where they birth in the Upper Valley of New Hampshire and Vermont.
Local midwives Katie Bramhall and Meghan Sperry have heard the community’s call – Gentle Landing Birth Center will very soon be a reality for our community! The lease is signed, and we are ready to build a beautiful birth center to help bring choice back to birth in the Upper Valley!
Located just 5 minutes from Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, Gentle Landing Birth Center will provide families with the choice of high quality, personalized perinatal and birthing care in an out-of-hospital setting.
Private donors have given us a fantastic start for our startup costs, but we need the community to help us raise the rest.
